Utah Open Source Conference Planning Meeting Reminder
It is a new week and as such it is time for another Utah Open Source Conference planning meeting. This weeks meeting will be held after the PLUG presentation, approximately 9:00pm. Why not come for the PLUG presentation (I’m presenting, it’ll be fun!) and stay for the Utah Open Source Conference planning meeting afterwards.
We’ll be discussing some of the progress since last weeks call for papers, a few more pending topics in relation to that and, of course, diving into continued planning for the best conference ever to hit our state.
Hope to see all of you there… ooh, and there will be a cake in the shape of BSD’s “Beastie” from Joseph Hall. That you *can’t* miss!

Utah Open Source Conference Meeting Agenda : March 6th
I know we just posted a meeting reminder a few days ago but this next meet is a big’n and we want to make sure everyone that can attend does. Remember, Tuesday March 6th at 7:30pm in #utos over IRC. If you haven’t made time for previous meetings you really should make time for this one. Break appointments, ditch friends–quit your job if you have to–we want you there this week!
Agenda
- Call for Papers : The draft is available here and I want to hear feedback on this draft. How can it be improved? Constructive critisism here is needed because this will be going out soon!
- UTOSC.ORG : We’ve been able to get a hold of the domain to represent our conference. What I need from all of you here is links. If you are part of an open source group within Utah and have access to a website or blog please link to us. We would very much appreciate a link using the phrase “Utah Open Source Conference 2007” pointed to www.utosc.org. Yes this means you!
- Naming. Just to clear up some confusion the conference should be the “Utah Open Source Conference” and the planning commitee and the group working to better the advancement of Open Source groups is “Utah Open Source”. Please keep this in mind when linking or referring to the conference.
- Cultural Celebration Center : We have our location defined! We will need a lot of help however in fulfilling our part of the deal. We will be discussing what is needed concerning networking tools and equipment for the trade that we’ve put together. If you can volunteer in this area, whether it be for man-power or hardware please contact us here.
- Utah Open Source, The Non-Profit : We have registered as a non-profit group and the ball is rolling on all that official mumbo-jumbo. There are still a few things needed for the 501c3 status however and these will be discussed at the next meeting.
If you’ve read this far you have just volunteered yourself to help with this conference. Yes, I’m serious. We need more volunteers. We need more hands. There is much more to get done and we’d be more than happy to hear from all of you. Please consider coming to the next meeting on Tue or simply contacting us for more information. The Utah Open Source Conference will not be a success without you. It depends on and represents all of us. Come show us what you’ve got!
