Planning the Utah Open Source Conference

Posted by Clint on October 18, 2006 in Meetings, News

Hi all,

I just wanted to take a minute and give everyone a heads up about the Utah Open Source Conference planning. We’ve been planning now for almost 5 months and it is really starting to come together. Regular meetings are taking place every Wednesday night. Usually, these are on IRC, but once a month we meet after the PLUG meeting.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, October 25, 2006 @ 6:45pm. It’s online at irc.freenode.net on the channel #utos. If you are unfamiliar with irc, please contact us and we can help.

Here are some of the things that we’re currently working on:

  • Location - Cultural Celebrations Center (tentative, details in progress)
  • Website Design - We have a few firms discussing sponsorship and working with us to define how we want to represent our site.
  • Tracks - 3 general tracks have been designed.
    • Business - Focus on helping businesses both leverage and give back to Open Source.
    • Technical - Workshops and lectures on how technology works under the covers
    • Newbie - Introduce those who have little experience into the way of Open Source

If you are interested in what else we are doing, please visit the Utah Open Source planning page.

See you soon at the Utah Open Source Conference 2007!!

Cheers,

Clint
