An API is a service that lets one website use data or functionality from another website, and most modern webpages rely on at least one API - like the Facebook API for social interaction, the Google Analytics API for tracking, or the DoubleClick API for ads.

In this workshop, we'll talk about how JavaScript-based APIs actually work behind the scenes, and give you some hands-on experience in using them, plus introduce you to a wealth of APIs to enhance your websites.

Lambda Lounge Utah
Starts: 6:00 pm Ends: - 9:00 pm

Lambda Lounge is a user group for passionate developers and CS aficionados focusing on programming paradigms (e.g. functional, logic), distributed and concurrent programming, abstraction, complexity, and other topics.

Rather than focusing on a single language or technology Lambda Lounge discusses a wide variety of topics. Programming paradigms with a strong bent towards functional programming will be the primary focus but any interesting idea or emerging tech is fair game. The group is modeled after the original Lambda Lounge in St. Louis and other various chapters.

We meet every second Tuesday of the month at Salt Lake Community College, Miller Corporate Partnership Center.

Workshop - Intro to Git/Github
Starts: 6:00 pm Ends: - 8:30 pm
Location: Tanner Labs 1865 South Main Street, 2nd floor EAST, Salt Lake City, UT
Description: GitHub is a git repository hosting service that offers distributed revision control and source code management. In other words - it allows groups of people to work on the same files (really just code) at the same time, without stepping on each other's little toes.

GitHub has become a staple among the open source community and many companies.

This workshop will be very interactive! I think we all learn better, and have more fun, when we talk, type and move a bit. So let's try it out!

We will also address many of the common "newbie" errors to ease you in to the world of version control.

This class is a steal at only $10! Don't miss out and sign up today -

**GDI is a women-inclusive event which means that we welcome everyone who supports our mission, women in technology, and our Code of Conduct which includes all gender identities. If that sounds like you, then please join us!**
